| The 9” plates are suitable for hot, cold, wet or oily foods. They are sturdy and economic with superior performance over traditional paper plates, and fully compostable. The plates and bowls are made from bagasse, the waste fiber from pressing sugar cane. Normally the fibers are burned as fuel, though the power yield is low and the process is polluting. As with our take-out boxes, these plates and bowls are pressed in a high-heat, high-pressure process. The result is an economic and sturdy selection of tableware which is more rigid in service than paper plates or bowls, can take hot, wet or oily foods, and is compostable after use.
